Museology and cultural studies

In the 1970-80s. the creation and construction of museums and museum activities have acquired social, scientific and cultural significance. In this regard, the training of museum personnel in the republic has become an urgent task. Taking into account the current situation in the second half of the 1980s, the Faculty of History of CHIGU, headed by Dean A.I. Khasbulatov did significant work, and in 1990, by decision of the Ministry of Higher Education of the RSFSR, the specialty “Museum Affairs and the Protection of Historical and Cultural Monuments” was opened at CHIGU. In September 1993, the department of the history of world culture and museology was created and began to function at the Faculty of History. The head of the department was appointed candidate of historical sciences, associate professor Z.S. Torshkhoev. Since September 1995, the Department of the History of World Culture and Museum Studies was headed by Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor S.S. Magamadov.
In 2009, the Department of History of World Culture and Museum Studies was divided into two departments - the Department of History of World Culture and Museum Studies and the Department of Cultural Studies. From 2009 to 2018, the Department of Cultural Studies was headed by Doctor of Philosophy, Professor Tamara Adamovna Mazaeva. And the department "History of World Culture and Museum Studies" continued to be headed by Ph.D. Associate Professor Supyan Sultanovich Magamadov.
By the decision of the Academic Council of the Chechen State University, from October 1, 2018, the Departments of History of World Culture and Museology and Cultural Studies were merged into the Department of Museum Studies and Cultural Studies, the acting head of which was Ph.D. Murat Aslanovich Manaev.
Teachers of the department prepare bachelors in the direction of training "Museology and protection of objects of cultural and natural heritage" and "Culturology". On the initiative of S.S. Magamadov, the Academic Council of the Chechen State University in April 2004 established the Museum of History and Local Lore at the faculty. At the department there is a circle "Museologist".
